Purushottam Sharma
Purushottam Sharma, a distinguished senior officer within the Rajasthan Administrative Service, has assumed the pivotal role of Director of the Information and Public Relations Department (DIPR) at the Government Secretariat. Prior to his current appointment, he held the position of Joint Governance Secretary in the Urban Development and Housing Department. As a Senior Photojournalist for India’s prestigious news magazine, ‘India Today,’ since 1998, he has had the privilege of documenting exclusive stories and events worldwide. His work has graced the cover pages of ‘India Today’ and garnered international acclaim.
Beyond his journalistic endeavors, Mr. Purushottam has made significant contributions to development projects in Ghana, Africa, shedding light on the lives of cocoa farmers, and in Congo, highlighting community challenges through investigative photography. His extensive portfolio includes projects on Indian tourism in Thailand and collaborations with organizations like Care India, Alliance India, and Cairn Energy for photo documentation.
Mr. Purushottam’s talent extends beyond borders, having undertaken assignments for ‘TIME Magazine’ and ‘SIPA Press.’ He has captured pivotal moments in India’s history, from droughts in Rajasthan to devastating earthquakes and terrorist attacks. His lens has also focused on critical social issues, such as women and child health, gender discrimination, and water crises.
Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Mr. Purushottam has received awards for excellence in photojournalism and founded the ‘IMAGINE Photojournalist Society’ in 2012. Through this platform, he has empowered professionals, students, and young learners, with initiatives like ‘Camera Commando,’ breaking gender stereotypes in the field. His society hosts exhibitions, training camps, workshops, research programs, and annual national and international seminars, championing photojournalism literacy in Asia. Dr. Lodha’s extensive career spans over a decade of dedicated service in various state and national-level news agencies, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the media landscape. Additionally, his influence extends to academia, as he serves on the Board of Studies in journalism discipline at prestigious institutions such as the University of Rajasthan, Amity University Jaipur, Kushabhau Thakre University Chhattisgarh, and several other esteemed universities.
